"My wife and I wanted to come to Munich and we were looking for a suitable hotel close-by and became aware of the Hotel Gasthof zum Gockl in Unterföhring. The website was appealing and thus I booked this hotel, incl. breakfast and a menu in the evening. A great house with beautiful ambience and a friendly, competent team. Already the check-in was fun and raised our hope for more. This hope was not disappointed and after a nice day in Munich we were looking forward to the menu in the evening: After the tasty beef consomme with roast veal “nockerl” (small dumplings) we got pork medallions "Försterin” (forest warden) style with fresh chanterelles, cranberries and Butterspätzle (buttered spaetzle). It was really great and together with the half Löwenbräu it couldn’t be topped in any way. The dessert was again very tasty, so that I ordered of course one more espresso and a "Willi" (William's pear liquor). Altogether, the food and the drinks, as well as the friendly and fast service team left nothing to be desired. For this I give with pleasure already the full 5 stars. Also the quality of the room, the beds and the sumptuous breakfast is worth all 5 stars. A really very good, recommendable hotel with direct suburban-train connection to the Munich city centre (just approx. 500 m walking distance to the terminal)!"

"Great hotel in Unterföhring, not the cheapest, however, very nice. The employees are very friendly, nice and helpful. The rooms are good and spacious. The breakfast buffet is superb and very sumptuous. Even the coffee tastes. Food in the restaurant is 5 stars... and the Bavarian dumplings... the cook can really make it. He is probably a Bavarian!! The hotel has a beer garden in which one can relax in summer very nicely. This location can be highly recommended."
